Letter to cafe ysabel - food poison

My husband and I went there for lunch last July 18, 2010 and ordered the following:
1.oyster
2. Onion soup
3. Ceasar salad
4. Lengua
And fettucini but instead the waiter served salmon lasagna. When we mentioned to the waiter that he gave us the wrong order, he was apologetic but still didn't replace the salmon to fettucini. Since my husband didn't like eating the salmon, he ordered burger Suisse instead and just asked the waiter to wrap the salmon. Afterwhich, we ordered coffee. When we asked for the bill, we saw that the coffee wasn't included in the billing and told the waiter but the waiter insisted that it was on house. So, we just paid what we were billed for.
That night, maids and husband and I ate the salmon.
The following day, I had diarrhea and vomitted. The next day, my husband had diarrhea too. Our maids didn't have diarrhea. The day after, I had fever till now. I had called cafe ysabel about this and a certain Gladys just said that the orders we had were regular orders of clients and you serve your food very fresh and no one have complained about it.
Base on my research, both me and my husband were food poisoned/stomach flu. This may be due to the oysters as we suspect or one of the food we ate was contaminated.
This is a very bad experience for me and I don't think I wil be able to return to cafe ysabel anymore. We hope that this isn't an occuring problem to your restaurant as I pity your customers too.
By this writing, I still don't feel well but still have to continue and breastfeed my baby to protect her from this virus.

Ally's 1st month

Wow!! Ally has grown and gained weight! Fabulous! The wonders of breastmilk. Whew!!! And I could already take a real bath. "Ge Lai" was a Chinese tradition where you can't take a bath after giving birth and you have to eat all those kinds of food, soup and etc and just stay home for 1 month. Everyday egg, chocolates, fish soup, chicken, pigeon, (they call it "diet food" and no vegetables and fruits (because it is "chin" food). "diet food" are those food that keep your body warm and "chin" the opposite. I had no problem in eating and drinking all those Chinese stuffs they prepared because I really liked pigeon and Auntie Tina really cooked well. During our 1st month check-up with Dr. Joy, everything was ok, except that she was worried of my milk supply when I go back to work. She encouraged me to pump and breastfeed and assisted me on how to be ready when I go back to work. Note that Ally was purely breastfeeding and never had a chance to bottle feed yet. So, when we returned home, I read on bottle feeding at "The baby book" by Dr. Sears. It says in the book if possible, during the first time the baby bottle feeds, let someone do it in a way that mimicks breastfeeding way. I instucted Yaya to try bottle feeding Ally. It's better that it won't be you who personally bottle feed the baby to avoid nipple confusion. If the Yaya is unavailable, you can ask your husband to do it but not you. That time, Ally did accept the bottle smoothly when mommy have to leave the house.

At the beginning

As the song goes, "We were strangers starting out on our journey", this is how I can best describe my journey with breastfeeding and my Ally. Way before Ally was born, I have already decided that I would breastfeed Ally. I'm blessed to have a sister in law (joy) who's a "guru" in breastfeeding. She has breastfed all her 3 babies and now the 4th too. Joy lend me her maternity clothes, baby clothes and breastfeeding books. Ants, my husband, is the youngest in his family and the last to get married. All of his siblings have kids, and being this, we were able to pick up some lessons and first hand information on babies, breastfeeding and some lessons and experiences in parenting. During my pregnancy, Ants was already very supportive in my decision to breastfeed our baby. My decision became our decision. He was the one who studied, canvassed and bought the Medella pump in style for me. He also has a classmate in High school who's a pedia, Dr. Joy Ty-Sy, who's Ally's Ninang and pedia now. When I gave birth to Ally, Dr. Joy personally taught me on the proper way of latching and ways to increase breast milk supply. When Ally was born, we had her roomed in the day after. (I gave birth 10pm November 12, 2008, it was during the time that joc joc was confined at St. Luke's, so rooms were all occupied, Ants and I have to stay in the high-risked room overnight, hearing all those in labor, gosh, it was a tiring night). Being a first time mom, when Ally cries, I just try to breastfeed her or change her diaper when it was wet. We have to stay in the hospital for at least 48 hours for the newborn screening test. The first night with Ally, was not that ok, she kept on crying and crying, and all I did was to breastfeed and lulled her to sleep at my chest. The next day, Dr. Joy visited me in the hospital and checked on Ally. She then found out that Ally was really hungry since she saw that I wasn't producing enough breastmilk. She quickly instructed us to buy Dr. Edward's water and syringe so that Ally could have some glucose water. Dr. Joy patiently taught me the proper way of latching and instructed me to pump and breastfeed every 2 hours. During that time, every drop of the breastmilk I collect, was like a diamond. Ally drank glucose for a week until my supply met her demand. It was tough, as I remembered, it was like breastfeeding and pumping all day long. Thanks to Aileen Cabilangan for being there online, and just a text away, when I have to ask question like what do you mean by breastfeeding and pumping every 2 hours? If you don't know it, it's just saying if u start breastfeeding at 12, then the baby breastfed up to 1 then you have to pump around 30 minutes to collect milk. Then again at 2, you have to breatfeed again. Wow! Just thinking of it made me really tired. But day after day, I don't feel tired at all, seeing my baby smile and sleep, maybe that's what you call love..

"Baba!"

Ally is now 17 months breastfeeding and am proud, happy and feel blessed about it. Wow!!! 17 months??!! Yes! Me too! I can't seem to imagine that I would still breastfeed until now as most of the elders would discourage me not to breastfeed anymore because they are thinking that Ally would get the nutrients of my body and she can already eat solids. Tips for this kind of discouragement? Just nod and listen and say yes to whatever they are saying. If you can't bear their "dakdak" and wanted to answer back, Just say that your doctor and your baby's doctor said to continue breastfeeding as it is both beneficial to both of you. I did that, I send all related articles to my mom regarding the benefits of breastfeeding and now she helps me explain it to my grandparents. She has been even supporting us with our nursing wear business that promotes breastfeeding.
